JAMAR MILSAP
ENTREPRENEUR | MOTIVATIONAL EXPERT | EDUCATIONAL ADVOCATE
"Before I was ever trying to inspire an audience of adults or a classroom full of kids, I was simply just trying to inspire myself!"
Entrepreneur Jamar Milsap is a motivational expert when it comes to connecting people with their greatest abilities and achievements—especially kids. As a successful serial entrepreneur, he uses his talents to connect with kids and inspire them to grasp on to their greatest asset: raw creativity and unfiltered confidence.
As Author of Sandpaper Effect: 10 Ways to Spark the Entrepreneur in Kids!, Jamar draws on his colorful experiences learned from his astonishingly resourceful and enterprising father. From years of watching and listening to his dad is where he began to classify his signature ten “sparks” to help parents harness the fantasy and uninhibited drive of their children, to cause them to excel at every level. Something Jamar realized later in life, his father had been doing with him since Day One.
Jamar’s first “spark” kicked in at 12 years of age, when he began helping his mother run her daycare center out of their home in a very small town near Philadelphia, Chester PA. It was here that Jamar really began to learn about social dynamics, leverage and creating something from nothing. Motivating him to successfully tackle a myriad of money-generating “schemes” and businesses for his group of friends: from a renegade lemonade stand to a landscaping service; from selling Avon to his high school friends to flipping real estate with no financial investment of his own.
After a short stint at Millersville University, Jamar transferred to University of Rochester, at the delight of the Head Basketball Coach, on a full athletic scholarship. A year after graduation, Jamar took a customer service job and was immediately recognized by his manager for his unique people management skills; encouraging him to pursue the human resources industry as a suitable career.
It was in this field, Jamar really began to recognize his fervor for tapping into the “raw” entrepreneur inside everyone; whether it was to help them in their current role, guide them to a more appropriate field or motivate them to fully pursue their purpose, professionally. In addition, Jamar began to not only “spark” the change in individuals but in major corporations, as well; by identifying key partnerships with organizations that would support diversity, training and inclusion amongst their internal talent pool. As his roles increasingly grew in title and responsibility over a span of 15 years, Jamar continuously sharpened his abilities in recruitment, training and development through the use of original programs, motivating principles and practiced support in what is often perceived as, common activity. All a process of thinking, he attributes to his entrepreneurial upbringing as a child.
Later in life, Jamar would find himself spending an overwhelming amount of time as a volunteer and beloved mentor of the Junior Achievement program in Syracuse, NY; the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students about work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. Eager to motivate and inspire kids, Jamar began to collaborate with various schools, non-profit and for-profit organizations to strengthen the awareness of entrepreneurialism in kids.
A natural connector, Jamar’s passion continues in inspiring kids to accomplish all they set out to do—and more. For the past several years he has been working on an online gaming site designed to spark the entrepreneur in kids ages 4-10. This site will give kids instant access to the many tools needed to take on any challenge. Determined to help all kids never lose their creativity, Jamar continues to work tirelessly with our future leaders. Our kids: your legacy, one future.
Jamar has a three-year-old daughter and resides in Atlanta, GA.
